Adaptogens are a class of herbs, mushrooms and minerals that help protect the body from stress-induced dysfunction. Adaptogens must meet certain criteria, including (but not limited to): relatively non-toxic, work through the HPA (hypothalamic-pituitary/adrenal axis) and SAS (sympathoadrenal system), and regulate organs and system function. Current research also suggests that adaptogens work on a cellular level, acting like a “stress vaccine,” increasing our cells’ ability to respond to stress.

Superherbs are potent, complex and targeted herbs that support and nourish the body in a variety of ways. Many superherbs, like Maca and Chaga, were once thought to be possible adaptogens, but due to the most recent scientific evidence, we have classified them simply as superherbs.

Our Plants

• We use the most potent plants on earth, beginning with the highest quality ingredients.
• Our superherbs and supermushrooms are carefully sourced from their native region for plants that are thriving, potent and active.
• We study the history of each ingredient and form partnerships with organic, sustainable farms.
• When traditional organic farms are not available, the ingredient is wildcrafted via responsible suppliers who carefully monitor not only the plant population but the environment as well. These practices are designed to guarantee the long-term survival of wild populations and their associated habitats.
• Careful farming practices also ensure we only harvest plants at their peak season and potency.
• Each plant is different. Rhodiola roots, for example, are harvested when they are 5 years old. The proper age of each plant is determined by the peak levels of their actives, ensuring optimal bioactivity.
• Our supermushrooms like Chaga, Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps and Reishi are 100% fruiting body – which is the most actively dense part of the mushroom containing beta glucans and other minerals and vitamins. This enables us to use the full spectrum of properties that these supermushrooms contain.
• Our plants are imported whole and custom extracted at a wind-powered facility in the Pacific Northwest using local spring water.

Our Extraction and Testing Methods

• Nyzeos plants are imported to the United States from around the world, where they go through two rounds of identity testing. Botanical identity is essential because of significant species-dependent variation in phytochemistry and biological properties of the plant.
• We work with herbalists and doctors to determine the most appropriate type of extract for each plant (whole plant powders, whole plant extracts, or standardized extracts) to make the most balanced blends.
• Not only do we test for bioactives, our plants are also tested for heavy metals, mycotoxins, microbiology and pesticides.

Clinical Testing

• A selection of Nyzeos’s ingredients have been tested in randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trials measuring cortisol and a number of other biological markers, showing how these adaptogens help to regulate stress in the body.
• Traditionally, there have not been many clinical studies completed on herbs, but the benefits of adaptogens have been illustrated for thousands of years in Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
• There are ingredients in each Moon Dust blend that are designed to address a wide range of concerns including: stress, energy, mental cognition, blood sugar balance, cardiovascular health, and healthy weight management.
